The research paper by Konstantinos Alexopoulos, a postgraduate student in the Master’s Program, has been selected for the final phase of the internationally renowned 19th MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). This prestigious conference, scheduled to take place on March 7–8 2025 in Boston, is recognized as one of the leading conferences in the field of sports data analytics. It attracts high-ranking executives from global sports organizations such as the NBA, NFL, and NASCAR, as well as pioneers from the sports entertainment industry.

As part of the conference’s Research Paper Competition, Konstantinos will present his thesis titled:
"Revolutionizing Formula 1 Broadcasting: Unveiling the Impact of Personalized Virtual Advertising on Brand Recall through Eye-Tracking." The study, conducted under the supervision of Professor George Tsourvakas, Director of the Master's Program and Dr. Vagia Mochla and, explores the integration of personalized virtual advertising during televised Formula 1 broadcasts by leveraging eye-tracking technology. The primary aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of these advertisements based on three key factors:

  1. Visibility rate of virtual ads across consecutive frames.
  2. Time to First Fixation (TTFF) on advertisements.
  3. Impact of ad placement on brand recall.

This accomplishment is not only a personal milestone for Konstantinos but also highlights the potential of the Master’s Program in Marketing. Speaking about his experience, Konstantinos noted: "The program provides us with opportunities to engage with innovative research in the field of sports, which was instrumental in completing my master thesis and presenting it at such a prestigious conference."
