He served as Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers at the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Power Corporation (DEH S.A.), the Athens Trolley Company (HLPAP S.A.), the Public Debt Management Agency (ODDHX) and the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).

His current research interests include (among others) Applied Macroeconomics, International Economics, Growth and Development, Money and Capital Markets, Economic and Financial Crises, Income Distribution and Inequality, Economics of Education, Human Capital and Tourism Economics.

His most recent research focuses on potential growth drivers for the Greek economy at the current juncture, and developments regarding inequality and the distribution of income in OECD countries over the last years.
